The mission of the South Dakota State University Strength & Conditioning department is to positively impact all student-athletes. We aim to accomplish this by helping our student-athletes achieve their goals as they relate to their individual athletic endeavors. More specifically, we strive to prepare our football student-athletes for their individual position by providing a program that strives to prevent injury, improve strength, speed, power, agility, balance, coordination, mobility, conditioning and mental toughness. In addition, we strive to reinforce the mission of our athletic department and the university by providing the highest quality teaching and learning experience, assisting our student-athletes in becoming lifelong champions. We accomplish this by encouraging responsibility, discipline hard work and respect for one another.
Nate Moe - Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning
Nathan Moe joined the South Dakota State staff as the head strength and conditioning coach in August 2005 and served in that position until being promoted to assistant athletic director for strength and conditioning in May 2011.
Moe works directly with the Jackrabbit football, volleyball and men’s basketball teams, and also oversees the design and implementation of the year-round strength and conditioning programs for all of the Jackrabbits 21 varsity sports.
Moe came to South Dakota State after heading the strength and conditioning program at Eastern Illinois University for three years, where he oversaw the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for all 22 of the Panthers varsity sports.
Before his days with the Panthers in Charleston, Ill., Moe worked as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where he worked with the Owls football strength program, while being directly responsible for men's and women's track, men's and women's tennis, women's swimming, women's soccer and men's golf.
From 1997 through the spring of 1999, Moe worked as a graduate assistant in the strength and conditioning program at the University of Texas in Austin, where he earned a MEd. in Exercise Physiology. He also worked in private business in physical fitness in Austin and Houston, Texas and in Fargo, N.D.
A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a USA Weightlifting Certified Club Coach, Moe also maintains certifications in the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. In 2012, the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association honored Moe as a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach.
A Minnesota native, Moe graduated from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minn., in 1996, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science. He also played football for the 1995 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference champion Dragons.
Moe and his wife Colleen live in Brookings with their son, Zachary and daughter Kylie.
Eric Adolph - Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Eric begins his second year as assistant strength and conditioning coach after spending the previous two years at South Dakota State as a graduate assistant in the same position. Eric completed his M.S. in Health and Nutritional Science with an emphasis in Sports Science in May of 2012. During his time at SDSU, Eric has worked directly with the Jackrabbit Women’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Men’s & Women’s Tennis, Men’s & Women’s Golf, Equestrian and Cheer teams while assisting with the remaining 21 Varsity sports.
A native of Flandreau, South Dakota, Adolph is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach. He graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sport Exercise and Wellness.
Adam Parsons - Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Adam Parsons joined the staff on Nov. 18 after severing as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of North Dakota since June of 2013. He also brings a variety of experience in the field from Belmont University, Notre Dame, Tennessee State, Oregon State and Washington State.
Parsons earned a bachelor’s degree in human kinetics from the University of British Columbia and a master’s degree in sport administration from Belmont University. He also earned certifications from the American Red Cross in first aid, CPR/AED, as a USA Weightlifting Certified Sports Performance Coach and a National Strength & Conditioning Association CSCS certification.
Seth Daughters - Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Seth Daughters joined the South Dakota State University Strength and Conditioning Staff as a student-intern in January 2013 and will stay on as a graduate assistant. As a student-intern, Daughters worked under the supervision of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Nathan Moe and assisted with program implementation for football, swim and dive, wrestling, soccer, and track and field. As Daughters makes his transition to graduate assistant, he will take on the responsibility of program design and implementation for swim and dive, softball, and cheerleading student-athletes.
Prior to joining the SDSU staff, Daughters played from 2008 to 2012 as a tight end for Jackrabbit football team and served as a team Captain during his senior season.
Daughters received his B.S. in Exercise Science from South Dakota State University and will complete his master’s degree in Exercise, Nutrition and Food Sciences. He is currently a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), as well as a Health Fitness Specialist (HFS) through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
Seth is originally from Winner, South Dakota.
Paul Lundgren - Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Paul Lundgren graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa with a degree in Exercise Science with a focus on Strength and Conditioning. While at Northwestern he helped with the programming for the women’s volleyball team and the men’s football team.
In the summer of 2011 he interned at Central College in Pella, Iowa with the Strength and Conditioning staff. He helped coach a variety of athletes while he was there and learned about programming and motivating athletes.
Prior to coming to South Dakota State University he interned at Iowa State University with the Cyclone Football team.
He interned under Yancy McKnight and learned about what it takes to be a strength and conditioning coach at the NCAA Division I level.
He is a graduate student studying Nutrition, Exercise and Food Sciences.
Jesse Rodriguez - Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Jesse Rodriguez joined South Dakota State University Strength and Conditioning Staff as a graduate assistant in July 2012. He is responsible for the program design and implementation for equestrian, tennis, and golf student-athletes
During his first year, Rodriguez was responsible for the program design and implementation for softball, golf and cheerleading student-athletes.
Prior to joining the SDSU staff, Rodriguez spent a year (2011-2012) at Washington State University as strength and conditioning coaching assistant. During his time at WSU, Rodriguez worked under the supervision of a strength coach while implementing programs for baseball, golf, rowing, track and field, and both women and men’s basketball teams.
Rodriguez received his B.S in Exercise Science from Eastern Washington University and plans on completing his master’s degree in Exercise Science at South Dakota State University. Rodriguez is currently a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), as well as a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting.
Jesse is originally from Toppenish, Washington.
