Success In The Pool
The Jackrabbits have consistently finished near the top of The Summit League year-in, year-out. During the 2012-13 season, SDSU set eight school records. Six of the eight athletesthat set records will be returning next year for the Jackrabbits.

Family Atmosphere

With Coach Erickson leading both the men’s and women’s Jackrabbit swimming programs, a true family feel has been formed. All practices, workouts, meetings, goals and expectations are formed as one, the teams also get to travel together and compete side by side.

Program Stability

Head Coach Erickson has been with the SDSU swimming and diving program for 37 years now.

Since being named head swimming coach in 1976, Erickson has coached the Jackrabbit men to a North Central Conference championship in 1979 and the SDSU women to an NCC title in 1981. In the 2000-01 season he was named the North Central Conference Men's Swimming Coach of the Year after leading SDSU to a fourth-place finish at the conference meet. At the 2011 Summit League Championships, Erickson was named women's coach of the year after SDSU placed second in the conference.

Community Service

South Dakota State is not only competitive in the pool, but they are also competitive in the community. The swimming and diving team helped to team up with the rest of the athletic department to compete in The Summit League Food Fight. The Jackrabbits won the 2013 Food Fight with a total of  of 22,545.74 lbs. and it was donated to the Brookings Area Food Pantry. This marks the Jackrabbits second title of the five-year league-wide food drive after capturing the title in 2009-10 and finishing second last year.
